DECEMBER MEETING: AGM, FESTIVE CHEER, and KUMIHIMO BRAIDING with PETER LAKIN

2020/12/09 19:00 - 21:00

The first part of the meeting will be our Annual General Meeting. We will use the Zoom platform that many of us are now familiar with. It has the option of allowing people to join by phone only, like a conference call.
On December 2 we will send out the Zoom invitation, an agenda, the minutes of the 2019-2020 meeting, and the committee’s reports for you to peruse. If you would like to join the Executive, or to nominate someone else, now would be a great time to let us know!
At the AGM the Chair will give a brief report and the Treasurer will present a budget for 2020-2021. Questions will be invited. Last-minutes nominations of volunteers to serve on the Executive will be accepted, and a slate of candidates will be proposed.
The membership will be invited to vote on the following:

  • Approval of 2019-2020 minutes
  • Ratification of the Executive’s actions over the past year
  • Approval of the 2020-2021 budget
  • The Executive for 2020-2021

If you are unable to attend, you may assign your vote to a proxy: any named member of the Guild who will be in attendance. We’ll send out a proxy form also.
Any questions about the AGM can be sent to the Chair (Julia) or Secretary (Anne).

The second half of our meeting involves snacks and working with your hands!
Please submit recipes for favourite festive treats. It would be great if you could photograph and send old family recipe cards. Then we can all prepare snacks at home to have ready to nibble on or sip during the second part of the meeting.
Guild member Peter Lakin will present a short video demonstrating the traditional Japanese art of kumihimo (braid weaving) and then lead a hands-on kumihimo workshop. No expensive equipment is required! See photo for what you will need.
