Kristiina Lahde
Behind the Scenes of Fashion & Textiles at the ROM

Kristiina Lahde is a Collections Technician in the Global Fashion & Textiles Section at the Royal Ontario Museum. A graduate from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and Sir Sandford Fleming College, Kristiina combines her acute organisational skills and artistic expertise to collection care and exhibit preparation. Having worked at the ROM since 2003 Kristiina has prepared and installed fashion and textiles in numerous exhibitions including The Cloth that Changed the Worldin 2019, Christian Dior in 2017 and Viva Mexico in 2015.

In 2019 Kristiina co-presented with Karla Livingston, a talk titled CEREX fabric: Solutions for storing the Textiles and Costume collections at the Royal Ontario Museum at the Toronto Area Conservators Group: Forum on Preventive Conservation.
In 2018 Kristiina and Karla published their research report, Weightless: The Evolution of Magnetic Mounting Systems at the Royal Ontario Museum, in DRESS, The Journal of the Costume Society of America.

Kristiina Lahde is also a visual artist who has exhibited across Canada and in the USA, her work is represented by MKG127 gallery in Toronto.
