Lesley Armstrong
A Weaver’s Winding Path: four and a half decades of weaving in the fields of fashion, interiors, and art

Wednesday, 10 November 2021

Lesley Armstrong fell in love with weaving in 1973 when she took a NSCAD Intro Weaving course with well-known weaver and wonderful teacher, Sandra Brownlee. Lesley was educated at NSCAD and spent a year with various weavers in Scotland. She also studied design and hand, power, and Jacquard weaving at the Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science. She received a Masters degree at the Philadelphia College of Art in 1982, studying under Warren Seelig. Teaching part-time at NSCAD for 33 of those 48 years and five weaving businesses later, Lesley has just started a new chapter in her weaving life.
For four years Lesley ran LeHave Weaving Studio in a century-old building in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. She has just moved to across the river to Conquerall Bank, NS, where her new studio has heat and a retail shop. She looks forward to offering private instruction and small group classes, Covid permitting.
