This month we have Deborah Livingston-Lowe of Upper Canada Weaving presenting us with her collection of woven fabrics she has reproduced from traditional Ontario patterns. Deborah, who studied woven textiles at OCAD 30 years ago, has been weaving ever since. Working out of her attic studio she brings a unique design aesthetic to her work, drawing form a deep historical knowledge of Canadian textile design from the 19th Century. Her fabrics can be seen in the The Peggy Sue Collection, the fashion label of Peggy Sue Deaven-Smiltnieks – one of Toronto’s up and coming fashion designers who is a champion of the local fibre industry.
