May 27 2023: Riverdale Farm Spring Celebration (Member Volunteers Needed)

  • by

Now that we are back at the Farm, we are again invited/expected to provide volunteers for their public events. The next one is the Spring Celebration

We need at least six volunteers in the morning (9:30 – 12:30) and another six in the afternoon (12:30 – 3:30). We are hoping to have some fresh fleece from the shearing demonstration, as well as some washed wool, perhaps dyed wool, and yarn. The Farm will provide hand carders, spinning wheels, a tapestry loom, and perhaps some floor looms. We are considering bringing a drum carder.
This will likely be a busy day with lots of opportunity to talk to visiting families about the process of turning fibres into useful and beautiful items. Even if you are still fairly new to spinning and/or weaving, you can still explain the process and contribute enthusiasm! If you are available to help out please get in touch and let us know what you would like to demonstrate/talk about, and whether you’d prefer a morning or afternoon shift.
