For Sale- Handmade Cottage Spinner- Best Offer over $100 (Wellington)

  • by

This Cottage Spinner, hand crafted by Harley Darnel in BC back in the 1970’s, is what I learned to spin on – also known as an Indian Head Spinner as it was designed to spin the yarn used to knit Cowichan sweaters. Cowichan women originally “thigh spun” or “spindle spun” wool and this was a great improvement. Everyone in the Northwest Handcraft House spinning class learned on one of these wheels and when I finally learned to spin I decided to order one from my teacher’s husband, Harley. It’s a good wheel for Lopi-style yarn or plying bulky yarn as it has a large orifice. Unfinished wood can be stained or painted to suit your taste. Situated in Wellington ON. Asking for best offer over $100.
